Highlights of Interim Budget 2014-15

Finance Minister presented Union Budget on 17th February, 2014. Some of the Key Highlights of Interim Union Budget are
 Income tax rates are unchanged
 10 pc surcharge on 'super-rich' having annual income above Rs 1 crore to continue
 Fiscal deficit at 4.6 pc in 2013-14 and 4.1 pc next year, revenue deficit at 3 pc in 2013-14;
 Current Account Deficit to be USD 45 bn as against USD 88 bn in 2012-13;
Excise duty on small cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles cut from 12 to 8 pc;
 Large and mid-segment cars from 27-24 pc to 24-20 pc
Excise duty on mobile handset to be 6 pc on CENVAT credit to encourage domestic production
Defence allocation increased by 10 per cent to Rs 2.24 lakh crore;
Excise duty cut on capital goods, non consumer durables cut from 12 to 10 per cent
Moratorium on interest on student loans taken before March 31, 2009; to benefit 9 lakh borrowers
Disinvestment target for FY14 cut to Rs 16,027 cr versus Rs 40,000 cr; next year govt eyeing Rs 36,925 cr;
 Lowers residual stake sale target to Rs 3,000 cr from Rs 14,000 cr for this fiscal;
 Govt obtains information in 67 cases of illegal offshore accounts of Indians;
 Govt's net borrowing in next fiscal to be Rs 4.57 lakh cr;
 Plan expenditure cut by Rs 79,790 cr for current fiscal;
 Allocates Rs 1,000 cr more to Nirbhaya Fund;
CCI cleared 296 projects worth Rs 6.6 lakh cr by end Jan;
GDP to grow by at least 5.2 pc in Q3 and Q4 in 2013-14;
 Plan expenditure for 2014-15 at Rs 5.55 lakh cr and non-plan at Rs 12.08 lakh cr;
 Govt to infuse Rs 11,200 cr in PSU banks next fiscal;
Government gets Rs 88,188 cr as dividend from PSUs, Rs 14,000 crore more than budgeted

ICICI Bank is commencing ICICI Bank Probationary Officer Recruitment Drive for May 2012 Batch. Aptitude Test & Interview is likely to be conducted across India in January 2012. 
Probationary Officer Programme is an initiative by ICICI Bank to attract bright graduate students to pursue a career in banking. It is designed to develop specialists with banking knowledge and skills to partially fulfill the future need of trained bankers . 

Those selected will undergo a one year intensive residential classroom training and internship in the following areas:
  • Corporate Banking
  • Private Banking
  • Risk and Credit Management
  • Treasury
  • Branch Management
  • Relationship Management
The training will be held in Bangalore or any other location in India as decided by ICICI Bank. During the training, a stipend will be given to candidates to meet out of pocket expenses. On successful completion of the program they will be absorbed as Assistant Manager.

Eligibility Criteria for Test:
  • Completed graduation with 55% (Aggregate) in any discipline.
  • Up to 25 years of age as on May 01,2012 (should have been born on or after May 01,1987).
  • Ensure you select your **Preferred Interview Location.

What is the selection procedure?
The selection will be through a multi stage selection process comprising of:
  • Aptitude Test
  • Group Process
  • Profiling

If selected, You will undergo a one year intensive residential classroom training and internship with a stipend. All cost of the program including fooding & lodging will be borne by ICICI Bank. On successful completion of the program you will be absorbed as Assistant Manager – Band I at a gross salary of more than Rs. 3.5 Lakhs per annum.

It is an initiative by ICICI Bank to attract bright graduate students to pursue a career in banking. It is an attempt to create specialist graduate students with banking knowledge and skills.

      4. What are the areas in which training will be provided?

      Applicants joining the Probationary Programme will be enrolled for MBA in Banking and Finance. Its is UGC approved program and Manipal University awards the degree. MBA (Banking & Finance) course duration is for a period of 30 months (2 ½ years) with the maximum period for completion being 60 months.
      MBA (Banking & Finance) program consists of two phase,
      First Phase:
      • Comprising of 12 months of On campus program(9 months of classroom training & 3 months of internship in ICICI Bank).
      • On successful completion of the first 12 months of training POs will be awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Banking from ICICI Manipal Academy.
      • On successful completion of the first 12 months of training program, the POs will be absorbed as Assistant Managers in the Bank
      • On Campus program comprises of Semester I and II and is designed to provide banking skills to perform effectively in a banking environment.
      The students are provided with an exit option after successfully completing the first year of the MBA (Banking & Finance) program. Such students are allowed to exit the MBA program with a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking (PGDB).
      However POs who wish to continue with the MBA (Banking & Finance) program are allowed to rejoin the MBA (Banking & Finance) program within 1 year of their completion of PGDB from IMA campus. Such students, by virtue of their being Assistant Managers working at different branches/locations of ICICI Bank will be provided their lectures and study materials online.
      Second Phase:
      • Comprising of 18 months of Online Training.(3 Semesters viz, III, IV & V) are designed to provide managerial skills to the students in a working and business environment.
      • Students who have chosen to continue with their MBA (Banking & Finance) program can pursue the Second phase along with their Job at ICICI Bank.

The Prime Minister Rural Development Fellowships (PMRDF)


The Prime Minister Rural Development Fellows is an excellent opportunity in the development sector that will provide exceptional growth potential.
PMRDFs will basically function as development facilitators, they will assist the Collector and his/her colleagues in each of the  AP districts and provide them with the necessary analysis of situations and how they should be handled.
The fellows would actively pursue a district programming approach following three key strategies given below:
  • Strengthen the district resource base for programming by finding ways of resourcing all the planned activities and rational budgeting.
  • Establish or strengthen systems by exploring alternative ways of delivering services to reach the most deprived communities.
  • Trigger processes which would support the changes that have been envisioned in this approach (e.g. village planning).
This would be complemented by a set of supportive actions such as building the capacity of district and block officials; triggering district-wide social mobilization processes particularly among the youth; achieve a ground swell of support and build strong relationships with the Panchayats.

To be Eligible:
  • Must be 25-30 years old
  • Must be a postgraduate in Social Science/ Science/ Management or a graduate in Law/ Engineering/ Medicine
  • Knowledge of Hindi and a local language used in an AP district is desirable.
  • Work experience is preferred
