Heavy Rainfall Alerts – Safety Guidelines You Must Follow

The weather department has issued important rainfall warnings for the next two days in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. With continuous heavy rains expected, residents are advised to remain cautious and follow safety instructions to avoid accidents and health issues.


Weather Warnings

Yellow Warning

  • Moderate rainfall is expected in most areas.

  • Winds may reach speeds of 30–40 km/h.

  • Commuters should drive carefully and avoid waterlogged roads.

Do’s:

  • Carry umbrellas or raincoats.

  • Wear non-slippery footwear.

Don’ts:

  • Avoid venturing into open fields during thunderstorms.

  • Stay away from electric poles and damaged wires.


Orange Warning

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall predicted in multiple districts.

  • Strong winds may cause tree falls and road blockages.

Do’s:

  • Stay indoors unless necessary.

  • Keep emergency supplies ready.

Don’ts:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel.

  • Do not park vehicles under trees or weak structures.


Red Alert

  • Extremely heavy rainfall expected in some regions.

  • High risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

  • Follow evacuation instructions if issued by authorities.

  • Keep valuables and important documents safe.

Don’ts:

  • Avoid crossing overflowing streams or flooded roads.

  • Do not ignore official weather warnings.


Expected Rainfall

  • Coastal Andhra: 1–2 cm

  • Rayalaseema: 2–5 cm

  • North Coastal AP: 5–10 cm

  • Heavy Rainfall Zones (Red Alert): 10 cm or more
