Are you looking to push the boundaries of knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, or English? The Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Kurnool has officially released its information brochure for Ph.D. Admissions for the June 2026 Session.

The Department of Sciences is seeking ambitious scholars to join their vibrant research community. Whether you are a recent graduate or a working professional, there are pathways available for you to pursue your doctoral goals.


Research Frontiers

The department offers diverse research opportunities across three major divisions:

  • Mathematics: Explore areas like Algebraic coding theory, Numerical solution of partial Differential Equations, Spectral Graph Theory, and Linear Algebra.

  • Physics: Dive into Computational Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Computing, Solar Cells, Nanomaterials for energy applications, and Photonics.

  • English: Specialize in English Language Teaching, English Literature, and Linguistics.

Scholars will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including the Language Laboratory, the Functional Nanomaterials Laboratory (FNL), and the Optics & Photonics lab.


Eligibility & Admission Pathways

IIITDM Kurnool offers both Full-Time (with Institute Fellowship) and Part-Time programs.

1. Full-Time Ph.D. (With Masters)

  • Qualification: M.Tech, M.E., M.Sc., or M.S. in a relevant branch.

  • Marks: Minimum 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for UR/OBC/EWS; 55% (or 6.0 CGPA) for SC/ST/PwD.

2. Direct Ph.D. (After Bachelors)

  • From CFTIs: Minimum 70% (7.5 CGPA); GATE is not mandatory.

  • From non-CFTIs: Minimum 70% (7.5 CGPA); GATE is mandatory.

3. Part-Time Ph.D.

This program is designed for permanent employees of Government R&D labs, PSUs, or private organizations with R&D facilities. Applicants generally need at least three years of experience and a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from their employer.


Selection Process

  • Direct Entry: Candidates with valid GATE or CSIR/UGC-NET scores are eligible directly for the interview.

  • Entrance Test: All other applicants must pass a written test consisting of 50 MCQs based on the GATE 2026 syllabus.

  • Scoring: Each question carries 2 marks, with a 0.5 negative marking for incorrect answers.
