💡 How to Get In: Entrance vs. JRF

The university offers two main routes to admission:

  1. The All-India Entrance Exam: Conducted by the university in major cities including Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Kochi, Patna, Guwahati, and Bhubaneshwar.

  2. The JRF Fast-Track: If you have a valid JRF score (Category-1 only) in a relevant subject, you are exempted from the written test. You’ll head straight to the interview, where your performance (out of 30 marks) will be scaled to 100 for the merit list.

📝 Minimum Eligibility

Generally, you need a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or 50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). However, some departments have specific vibes—for instance, Plant Sciences requires a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.

🎤 The Interview: More Than Just a Chat

Don't expect a casual "tell me about yourself." For many departments, the 30-mark interview is broken down strictly. For example, in Bioinformatics, they look at:

  • Basic Subjects: 10 Marks

  • Techniques: 5 Marks

  • Specialization: 15 Marks

In other fields like Applied Geology, they specifically evaluate your Research Proposal and its defense.
